This is perhaps a perfect prologue to what will happen in our lives in the incoming year…
It all began almost 2 years ago when our friends and us were on the very first road trip across America. We drove from Florida, visited consecutive States on the East coast of United States and finally, 3000 kilometres later, we reached the Canadian border. One of the two cities we decided to visit in the Land of Maple Leaf was Toronto, the capital of province Ontario.
Let’s all agree – before the trip our knowledge of Canada was pretty simple – it has beautiful landscapes, it is freezing cold, there are millions of moose and bears everywhere. The traditional product is maple syrup, the national sport is hockey and there are Governor General’s Horse Guards (greetings to Eva) you wish you took a picture with.
I simply love to confront all the expectations and well known stereotypes with the reality.
And there it was – a big, modern city with the CN Tower visible far before we reached the suburbs. Then, once we got closer, an amazing waterfront area with beautiful harbour. And in the end – the city center – with busy streets, skyscrapers, lots of cafes and small shops. So far so good – the view from the car window was as described in a guidebook.

I love the balance between calm and composed life and self development, business and touristic opportunities Toronto provides.
But the city true value and spirit are the people. Toronto is one of the most pleasant places to live in and surely its inhabitants are one of the kindest and most optimistic we’ve met so far.
We get hold of an impression that Canada welcomes everyone with open arms.
And who else would be that kind to call you a newcomer instead of an immigrant?
So yes, it is happening, we’re moving to Canada, hoping for a challenging, full of positive experiences year.
Wish us luck…
and 🍁 Toronto 🍁 good to see you back.

[…] First but not last impression The distance between Toronto and Montreal is a little more than we expected. We missed our hotel check in in Montreal and ended up in a random motel on highway 401. Yet another memorable experience though 😀 […]
